About Animal Wellbeing Centre

Following the lockdown, it is no surprise that the number of people that acquired a dog / cat increased massively. Sadly, since the end of the lockdown, the number of behaviour problems such as aggressive dog, separation anxiety, and fear have also risen immensely. As the industry is not yet regulated, the risk of getting misleading dog training advice has increased.

This is why we felt the need to build a dog training centre where dog owners can find all the support needed, from puppy training group classes, private dog training lessons and dog behaviour consultations to social activities run by dog behaviour specialists and the best dog trainers in London.

Who’s behind Animal Wellbeing Centre?

My name is Antonella. I’m a professional dog trainer and registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the ABTC, IAABC, full member with the APBC, and Certified CAB with FAB clinicians.

My journey started in 2014.

I was working in procurement for an interior design company but it was time for a change. So I thought to myself, what if I work as a service dog trainer?

And here is when my first dog, Boston, comes into the picture. We got him when he was 8 weeks old. We went to puppy training group classes, private dog training lessons, socialised him; I did everything by the book. He is such an intelligent dog that by the age of 7 months old, he could do so many tricks (still can!) that not knowing what else to teach him, we joined a dog agility training course.

However...

"Out of nowhere", he started to scan the park for dogs and when he spotted his victim, he would charge, growl, snap, and pin it down. Also, if he saw a child, he would bark and chase them as if they were pigeons! I was shocked, mortified, embarrassed, disappointed, you name it. What on earth did I do wrong to suddenly have an aggressive dog?

And, like any normal dog owner, I started to search online for help. But instead of finding the answer, I felt overwhelmed and helpless with all the contradictory information. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and took my hobby of dog training to another level.

I quit my corporate job, attended numerous dog training courses and seminars in the UK, France, USA, Switzerland with world-renown pet behaviourists, best dog trainers and finally went to the University of Lincoln where I obtained my MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour in 2017 and became certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB) in 2020.

Fast forward to 2022, I felt that what was missing in London was a dog training centre with everything in one place where dog owners could work in preventing and tackling unwanted behaviours that are impossible to practice in a safe and managed environment.

And I found it! Our London dog training centre has three floors (yes, it's big!). We can help dogs that are anxious and labelled as “aggressive dog” by exposing them safely to various triggers such as skateboards, dogs, objects (vacuum cleaner!), sounds and how to help your dog settle in a new environment, to name just a few. During a dog behaviour consultation, we want you to feel at home! So don't expect a clinical look but a warm welcome with plenty of enrichment for your dog, so they don't get bored while we discuss your issues. In a few words, “mi casa, su casa”!

Whether it’s for basic dog obedience training or more complex behavioural issues, we focus not only on how to teach you how to best train your dog but also how to effectively communicate with them to give you and your dog a happier life together.
